Ancillary Text- Conventions of an Album Cover

In order to create a successful and effective ancillary text, I want to ensure that all my products match the typical conventions of an album cover and a magazine advertisement. I have decided to research and evaluate current products to make sure my products are similar.

Filming Schedule

I have decided to create a filming schedule to ensure that I am going to be able to get all my footage filmed and edited on time to meet with the deadline. In order to make it easier to read, I have created a table noting the date, location, and what actor and equipment I will be needing to get the shots that I want.

I was planning on filming this coming weekend, but unfortunately due to other commitments it is really hard to find a suitable day to film. Almost every weekend people are at University open days and applicant days, jobs, and working on  their own coursework. I have found some shots I can film this weekend though, which I do not need any actors for- so I will be doing these instead.

It appears that the best day to film is a Sunday, as Matt tends not to work so we can have the full day to film. Ideally, I hope to only need one filming day to get the rest of the shots that I need, so then I can really focus on editing.

Ancillary Text- Font Ideas

I have chosen the name Luna as my final name for my artist, and I will be using this name throughout all my features of my ancillary texts. I have used an online font hub - fontspace- to experiment with the different kinds of font I could use for my album cover and poster. I have presented these examples on one big slide

I will try and use an example of these fonts on different drafts and mocks up for my ancillary texts. To add consistency, it's important to use the same font on both the album cover and the poster, as it helps them tie together and creates an identity of the video promotion.

Ancillary Text Research- name ideas

As part of my Digi-pack, I need to create a new identity for my performers to print onto an album cover and poster. I am trying to juggle around with names to decide which one best fits the genre of my music. Due to the fact  there is a male and a female singer on the track, I cannot just use the name of one of the performers, which would have been the easiest option. However, I think it will end up looking more effective to have a one-word name for the artist, and so I have started to brainstorm ideas.

1) Luna
I really like this name, and think it fits into the genre and the song really well. In real terms, Luna refers to the moon, and is also the name of a Roman Goddess. I think both these definitions of the word actually fit into my song well, as I'd describe it as a very 'abstract' song, along with an unconventional artist. This is certainly one of my favorite names,

2) Jessa
The name 'Jessa' does not particularly have any meaning or reason behind it, however it is an unusual girls name and happens to be the name of a character from a show I was watching, and I thought it could maybe work as a name for my artist. Due to the fact there is both a male and a female artist, this name could perhaps be seen as too feminine or may not fit in with the genre.

3) Beacon
This idea is probably the name I like the least as I don't particularly think it fits in wit the genre of the song. In real life, Beacons are something that is designed to draw attention to one specific area, and in a way this could be related to the song and artist, as they could want attention for their album, however I don't think I will be using this name.
