Transition Task Evaluation

1) What did you find the most challenging and why?
Throughout the process of creating the one minute section of the music video, I found the most challenging aspect to be the choreography involved in the video, and making sure everything matched the video. The song we chose (R U Mine- Arctic Monkeys) had minimal editing, so it was important to make sure the actions in the video matched precisely. It was difficult to make the lip sync match due to the one shot motion of the video. The minimal editing meant that it was hard to edit the lip sync and movement to the beat of the song.

2) What would you do differently when creating your A2 product next year?
When creating my media product next year, I will put lots of consideration into the song I choose, and hope to do one with minimal lyrics but can still reflect my editing skills. Although I enjoyed working in a group, I will definitely produce my product on my own. I aim to make a detailed plan, and conduct lots of research in order to make my product the best it can be.

3) How has doing this task helped you and why? What have you taken from this?
This task has made me realize how hard it is to make a moving image product, and much work and planning needs to go into it to make it successful, Even though it was only a 1 minute extract, and we we're recreating it, it still needed lots of planning in order to produce successfully.

4) How successful do you think your product was, and why?
Overall, I think our product was a successful recreating of ' RU Mine'. It was my first experience using and editing moving image and i think the video turned out well. Minor details, such as not having a sun-roof and not being able to film at night due to lack of lighting would effect a more professional product, however for a first time practice I don't think it affected it hugely. It's important to make sure your actors have the right look, and I think the person we cast as Alex Turner was a good casting.

5) How do you feel about developing to A2 now you have completed this?
I'm looking forward to creating my A2 product, as I have loads of ideas I want to pursue. I'm concerned about the amount of work but I hope if I keep on top of it it will be successful. It's exposed me to the skills needed to do media studies at A2 and I hope to develop these skills throughout the year.

6) What do you like most/least about your final product?
What I dislike about my video is the fact the lip-syncing isn't always in time with the music, but I dont feel like this is the fault of the editing, but the minimal editing of the actual video. However, I feel like the extract looks really similar to the actual video and it reflects the simplicity of it.
